1. Dark n' Stormy
The Dark n’ Stormy is one of our favourite rum drinks recipes. It is refreshing and super easy to make. It is also easy to drink, especially on a warm day.
Ingredients
- 60ml dark rum
- Ginger beer
Method
- Pour ginger beer in to a glass over ice
- Pour in dark rum
- Add a slice of lime
2. Passion Fruit Daiquiri
The passion fruit daiquiri will conjure up images of lying on a beach picking sand out of your ice cream.
Ingredients
- 2 Fresh passion fruit
- 2 shots of Bacardi
- 1/2 shot of lime juice
- 1/2 shot of sugar syrup
Method
- Cut the passion fruit in half and scoop out flesh in to a cocktail shaker
- Add the other ingredients to the shaker
- Shake well
- Strain in to a glass with ice
- Garnish with a slice of lime
3. Piña Colada

Ingredients
- 60ml of Bacardi
- 60ml Coconut cream
- 60ml pineapple juice
Method
- Put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker
- Add ice
- Shake vigorously until the shaker has frosted over
- Pour in to a glass filled with crushed ice
- Garnish with pineapple
4. Raspberry Rum Mule
Replacing vodka with rum and adding a fresh raspberry twist to your classic Moscow Mule recipe is makes one of the best rum drinks recipes there is. You can also drink it out of a copper mug.
Ingredients
- 60ml of rum
- ½, lime juiced
- 1 teaspoon agave nectar
- 5 raspberries
- ½ bottle of ginger beer
- ½ cup of ice
Method
- Fill cocktail shaker with rum, lime juice, agave nectar, raspberries, and ice
- Shake mixture until ingredients are married together
- Add mixture to serving glass then top with ginger beer
- Garnish with raspberries and rosemary
5. El Floridita
The El Floridita is a variation on the classic Daiquiri. It is named after the way that Ernest Hemingway liked his mixed at the Floridita bar in Havana, Cuba.
Ingredients
- 40ml of white rum
- 30ml of lime
- 25ml Maraschino
Method
- Put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker
- Add ice
- Shake vigorously until the shaker goes frosty
- Strain in to a cocktail glass
- Garnish with lime
6. Mojito
The Mojito has to make it on to our list of best rum drinks recipes. It is a fashionable classic, and when made properly, it tastes fantastic.
Ingredients
- juice of 1 lime
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- small handful mint leaves, plus extra sprig to serve
- 60ml white rum
- soda water, to taste
Method
Muddle the lime juice, sugar and mint leaves in a small jug, crushing the mint as you go – you can use the end of a rolling pin for this. Pour into a tall glass and add a handful of ice.
Pour over the rum, stirring with a long-handled spoon. Top up with soda water, garnish with mint and serve.
7. Rum Punch
Rum punch is one of the best rum drinks recipes to bring show off at a party or barbecue. If you make a bowl of punch and drink it on your own, you are weird.
Ingredients
- 175ml of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 75ml of freshly squeezed lime juice
- 150ml of good-quality golden rum
- 50ml of sugar syrup
- dash of grenadine syrup
- dash of Angostura bitters
- ice cubes, to serve
- generous pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
- 2 thick slices of orange, to garnish
- maraschino cherries, to garnish
Method
Pour the juices, rum, sugar syrup, grenadine and Angostura bitters into a large jug and give it a good stir. Pop into the fridge to chill for 1 hr.
Serve over ice cubes, sprinkle over the nutmeg and garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry, speared with a cocktail stick.
8. Mai Tai
A Mai Tai is a traditional cocktail with both dark and white rum, vibrant grenadine, triple sec, almond syrup, lime and a retro cherry garnish. It tastes like the old days.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp white rum
- 2 tbsp dark rum
- 2 tbsp triple sec
- 1 tbsp grenadine
- 1 tbsp orgeat or almond syrup (we used Monin almond syrup, available online)
- juice of half a lime
- maraschino cherry
Method
Stir all the ingredients together in a jug or shake them in a cocktail shaker. Put a few cubes of ice in a tumbler, pour over the liquid and garnish with a cherry. Super easy!
9. Turkish coffee Sour
Coffee lovers will love this festive sour. Its seasonal favourites, like warming cinnamon, aromatic cloves and spiced rum go well with a deep coffee hit.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp coffee grounds
- 5 cardamom pods, bruised (plus 2 to garnish)
- strip of lemon peel
- 2 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 20g egg whites
- 75ml spiced rum
- 25ml lemon juice
- Angostura bitters (optional)
Method
Put the coffee grounds in a pan with 250ml water. Add the cardamom pods, lemon peel, cloves and cinnamon stick. Bring to the boil, then strain though a sieve lined with 2 pieces of kitchen paper. Leave to cool.
Pour 50ml of the coffee mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice then add the egg white, spiced rum and lemon juice. Shake hard for 1-2 mins then double strain into 2 coupe or martini glasses. Decorate with another cardamom pod and a few drops of Angostura bitters if you like.
10.Yaka Hula Hickey Dula
After a few of these, you will struggle to say Yaka Hula Hickey Dula. But, you want a few of them, as they are really really nice!
Ingredients
- 50ml of dark rum
- 50ml of dry vermouth
- 50ml of pineapple juice
Method
- Put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker
- Shake like you life depended on it
- Strain in to a chilled cocktail glass
