How Do Twin Gear Juicers Work?
A twin gear juicer is actually a cold press juicer with a slight difference. A cold press juicer squeezes juice out of the ingredients by pressing it very hard. This process separates juice and fibre. It will do this between 80 and 120rpm. This slow speed means that the juice is not exposed to much heat or air, like it would be with a centrifugal juicer. A centrifugal juicer works between 6000 and 14000rpm. This high speed, unfortunately creates heat and exposes the juice to air.
A twin gear juicer has two metal gears placed closely to each other. As you feed your ingredients in to the machine, these gears crush, cut, and squeeze them at the same time. The advantage of doing it this way, gives you more juice that has more nutrients. You can tell by just looking at the juice, that it was made with a twin-gear. This is because is always more dense and is a very vibrant colour.

This juicer is for the household that wants the best juice possible every day. It is quite pricey, but the warranty provides a great safety net if anything was to go wrong with it.
Overview
The Tribest GSE 5000 Green Star Elite Juicer is the latest version of the GS Series. The updates make this larger, giving you more juice that is more nutritional. Its gears rotate at 110rpm. This slow speed means that it doesn’t produce much heat, helping to lock in the nutrients. Another advantage that this new version has over the old one, is the simple latching system, which is much better than the old system on knobs.
This juicer has a coarse and small hole juicing screen, so you can choose how much pulp you want in your juice. It comes with a number of attachments that make it more than a juicer. These allow you to make sorbets, breadsticks, nut butter and much more. There is even an additional attachment you can buy separately to make pasta.
This juicer has a quality glass collector jug, rather than a cheap plastic one. Which adds to the quality feel of the product. You will find it easy to take apart and re-assemble for cleaning. Nut just make sure you take care when you put the gears back in to it to avoid damaging them. It also comes with a handy drip tray, to prevent mess on your kitchen worktop.
The feed chute isn’t very big, therefore you need to chop up larger ingredients before you feed them in. When feeding harder ingredients in to the machine, such as carrots, you will need to push them in with some effort, softer and leafy ingredients get drawn in with no problem.
A top tip, is to use a wooden plunger to press ingredients in to the machine. This is because any splinters will be pushed out with the pulp. This does not happen with plastic plungers that may break in to the machine.

Verdict
The Super Angel Deluxe is quite a juicer that requires you to be quite involved with it to keep it working at its best. By this we mean that you need to take good care of it, but it will be worth it.
This twin gear juicer is highly recommended for all serious juicers who can justify spending this amount of money on their juicing.
Overview
The Super Angel is a mega luxury twin Gear Juicer. Since its launch in 2015, it has gone through a few upgrades, making it even better. The improvements that impressed the most, was the addition of an automated anti-jamming system. We also like that the control panel, cooling systems, safety sensors, motor, and gearbox have also been upgraded. These changes make it a much better and durable machine.
This version of the Super Angel juicer is the mid-priced version. With this one, you get a very similar machine to the higher priced “Pro” version. In the fact that you get the same metal used in the extracting housing, twin gears, and the body. But, the only difference is that it doesn’t come with the stainless steel soft fruit attachment for making a puree. Therefore, you can save money with this one with this option.
We really like that this twin gear juicer has the anti-jamming system. You will find that, even with a juicer like this that juicing is a slow process. Additionally, you will need to chop your ingredients to fit in to the small feed chute. The nature of this type of juicer means that it is slow. It spins at a steady 82 RPM, so you can’t really expect to get your juice out in a hurry. If time is of the essence, you may want to go for a centrifugal juicer.
One of the things we really like about this juicer, is that it doesn’t have huge parts to wash, making cleaning easy. You can put all the parts in the dishwasher and forget about it. All but the screen housing is dishwasher safe, but this can be easily cleaned with the included special brush. Leaving your juicer uncleaned is a big mistake. This is because it makes it difficult to clean out the dried up residue.
Although it is a bit fiddly and slow to operate, you’ll get the best tasting and the most nutritious juice out of the Super Angel Deluxe.

Pros
- Faster than other twin gear juicers (not necessarily a good thing)
- BPA Free parts
- Quiet operation
- Continuous juicing with automatic pulp ejection
- 15-year warranty
Cons
- Not dishwasher safe
- 160 RPM is faster than other twin gear juicers but still slower than centrifugal juicing machines
- Narrow chute requires chopping your produce into fine pieces making your juicing process even slower
Verdict
Compared to the twin gear juicers above, this is nothing special. But, the outstanding reasons for buying it would be the price and the 15-year warranty. This juicer is ideal for people wanting to upgrade their old centrifugal juicer, but don’t want to spend a lot of money (relatively speaking).
Overview
Like the other juicers, this one is great for processing all types of produce such as fruits, vegetables, wheatgrass, leafy greens, and herbs.
This model of Omega juicer, has durable stainless steel juicing screws. This differs from other Omega juicers, that use plastic augers. A neat touch that this one also has, is the knob that allows you to control the pressure applied to your ingredients. Tighten it for hard ingredients such as carrots and loosen it off for softer fruits and vegetables. You can also adjust the amount of pulp you want in your juice with the included mesh filters.
All twin gear juicers take getting used to, but once you have spent some time with it, you will soon feel comfortable with using it. The Omega isn’t dishwasher safe, but it is fairly easy to clean by hand, which you need to do after each use.
